About The Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry

CARM is a 501(c)3, non-profit, Christian ministry dedicated to the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ and the promotion and defense of the Christian Gospel, doctrine, and theology.  To do this, CARM analyzes religious and non-religious movements and compares them to the Bible.  We examine abortion, atheism, evolution, Islam, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormonism, relativism, Roman Catholicism, Wicca, universalism, (and much more), along with Christian preachers and teachers.  In all our analyses we use the Bible as the final standard of truth in order to defend and promote Christianity.  Please consider checking out our statement of faith. -  CONTACT US

Are there such things as moral absolutes (moral nihilism) or is nothing by nature good or bad?

Moral Nihilists say, "There are no inherent moral values in anything whether it is action, thought, or intention."  This position is also called Ethical Nihilism.  Such an assertion is problematic for several reasons.

How does God know that there is no god above him?

Sometimes atheists ask Christians to prove that God exists so they can feel justified in their denial of him when proof isn't satisfactorily given. On one occasion an atheist wanted me to speak for God.  She asked me, "How does God know that he is omniscient and that there is no God beyond him?"  She went on to ask how I would know that God is not being deceived into thinking he was the only God. She went on to say that maybe there was a God above him that he did not know about.  So how could I know for sure that God actually did know that there wasn't another god besides Him.  I thought that was interesting considering that she denied the existence of "all" gods.  Nevertheless, what made her think that I could speak for God and tell her how his infinite knowledge works so as to convince her of that He knew there was no god above Him?  It seemed a little strange to me.  Even so, let me take a stab at the question and offer some comments.

Scriptural proof that Christians cannot lose their salvation

Is there Scriptural proof that Christians cannot lose their salvation? Yes there is, and it is found in the words of Christ.

  • John 8:29, "And He who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him."
  • John 6:39, "This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day."
