I am skeptical about God

by | Oct 19, 2009 | Answers for Seekers, Christian Theology

When people tell me they are skeptical about God, I want to find out what those reasons are. Are they skeptical because they believe there is no evidence for his existence? Well, there is evidence for God and it is recorded in the Bible. Are they skeptical because they don’t like how God does things in the Old Testament? If that is the case, then it’s up to that person to demonstrate a proper standard with which he could judge the God of the Bible. Or, are they being skeptical because they don’t want to believe in God, along with the responsibilities of what it means to be a follower of him?  Are they looking for an excuse to deny him? Whatever the case, different people have different reasons for being skeptical about God’s existence.

But we have to ask questions. Are they honestly looking for answers? If they are, I would be very willing to talk with you more about Jesus, the Bible, or whatever else they would want to talk about.

Perhaps we can talk about some of the things that you feel keep you from a saving knowledge of Jesus.  You could always email carm at [email protected] or call into the radio show carm.org/radio.

Finally, just something to think about. Sometimes being skeptical is a way of hiding from the facts.  We all do it, but we must try and make sure that we aren’t using skepticism as a way to hide from God.
