Peter and Hazelmary Bull, who reside in the United Kingdom, had been running a bed and breakfast since 1986. Their Christian policy is to only allow heterosexual married couples to stay at their B&B. Their website states...
"Here at Chymorvah we have few rules, but please note that as Christians we have a deep regard for marriage (being the union of one man to one woman for life to the exclusion of all others). Therefore, although we extend to all a warm welcome to our home, our double bedded accommodation is not available to unmarried couples. Thank you."1
Steven Preddy and Martyn Hall, a male homosexual couple, brought a lawsuit against Peter and Hazel for not allowing them a room. The Bulls were fined approximately $6000 and are now appealing to the United Kingdom Supreme Court. As the case was publicized, they received death threats as well as their bed and breakfast being vandalized. With a little research, I found their website and called them up. Hazel answered the phone and we had a great conversation.
"we need to tell them the truth [about Jesus]...we are on the verge of loosing everything."
Hazel told me that though Steve and Martyn suffered some embarrassment, they were financially compensated. However, now she and her husband have suffered a great loss in business and have had to sell everything to survive, including the B&B. Is that right? Is it right to penalize this couple to the point that they lose everything because they held to their religious beliefs? Is the law in balance here? Of course not. The homosexuals want tolerance, but not for Christians. We call this hypocrisy.
Hazel went on to say...
"we have 6000 letters of support, over 1000 emails [she stopped counting after 650] with just 32 letters and emails against us...there has been a lot of vandalism, tires slashed on the car, website corrupted with porn."
So, it appears that the majority of people who've contacted them are in support of them, but the minority who are not resort to violence and intimidation to get their way.
The homosexual agenda wants tolerance and acceptance, but if you cross them they will show you no tolerance and no acceptance. This is what happens when a sexual behavior is placed over religious freedom.
