Accidental Property

An accidental property (also known as accidental attribute) is a characteristic of something that is not necessary to its essence, and a deviation of that characteristic does not affect its essence.  For example, “Bob is two meters tall.”  Bob’s height is an accidental property to his being human because being human does not necessitate a height of 6 feet tall.  Height in humans can be greater or less than two meters.  Compare with Essential Property.
