Famine is a prolonged period where there is an extreme lack of food. Famine is caused by different things such as locust (Exodus 10:14-15), lack of rain (Amos 4:7-8), hail (Exodus 9:18-35), scourching wind (Amos 4:9), and war (Deut. 28:53-55)

God uses famine as a means to move people (Gen. 26:1), a disciplinary action (2 Sam. 21:1), a warning (Mark 13:8), and a judgment (Rev. 18:8).
