Myth

A myth is a story, sometimes based on a real event, that has become imaginary and/or fictitious and usually serves the purpose of explaining phenomena using religious or philosophical explanations. Such is the case with ancient Greek mythology that thought there were various gods that controlled various aspects of nature, i.e., the god of thunder, the god of water, etc.
