Protestant

The term Protestant refers to a person or group who holds to one of the systems of doctrine (i.e. Lutheran, Presbyterian, Anglican) that resulted from the Reformation. Originally, these groups stood in opposition to the Roman Catholic Church, and believed in the 'Five Solas' which centered around a belief in the scriptures as the final authority, and a rejection of traditional, extra-biblical Catholic practices. Signifigant persons in the protestant movement would include William Tyndale, John Huss, Martin Luther, John Calvin, Ulrich Zwlingli.
