Welcome | Email | Help CARM? | About CARM | Support CARM

I began CARM over eight years ago. In October, it will be nine years old. It began when the Internet was young and I wanted to supply Christians with good information on Christian theology. To my surprise, it wasn't long before CARM became a popular site. Over the years, it has grown from around 300 visits a week, to around 25,000 weekly visitors as I have added section after section -- with many more to come. The Lord has blessed this effort greatly.

As my wife and I realize that this ministry is becoming larger than what I can handle alone, we see the need for me to move into full time. In addition, we live in San Diego County which is one of the most expensive places in the country. So, last month my wife and I took a trip up to the Northwest in hopes of finding a place to move to that would be both affordable and allow me to eventually do CARM full time.  By God's grace, we discovered the Boise, Idaho area which has very affordable housing, a climate that isn't too extreme, and there is a large enough population base to find good churches, and have plenty of work. Did I mention it has a great airport, too?  Anyway, I am hoping that you will be willing to pray with me over the issue of moving to Boise. All I need is a job. My goal is to work up there, save the money I need to move, return here to San Diego, pack up, and move my family north. It is a big risk and a major move in our lives. But, we feel that the Lord is guiding us to the Boise area and we are going to try and get there. So, please pray for us. Please pray that the Lord opens the doors, but mostly that if it is not His will, that He would close the doors. My wife and I desire to be in His will and sometimes our desires get in the way of hearing His voice. That's why we need all the prayer help we can get.

My wife and I have been discussing strategies for getting to Boise, and one of them involves me taking a week off of work in early September, going to Boise for a week, and looking for a job. Its tentative, but would anyone be willing to put me up for a week while I look for work?  I could earn my keep by answering Bible questions.  :)

If you're feeling generous and wouldn't mind putting up with a guy named Slick, then please e-mail me and let me know:

I was speaking with a Christian friend had work about the situation was Boise and our desire to get a home.  He suggested that I let people know in a newsletter that we are looking for someone who can help us finance a home purchase, either as a mortgage broker or as an investor, in the Boise area.  If the Lord Leigh said on your heart, please contact me.  Thanks.

Anyone know of a job opening in the Boise area?  I am proficient in Desk Side support in the IT field.  If you'd like more details, just email me at and I'll give you a link to my resume.

ONLINE SCHOOL:  The online school of Christian theology is continuing to do very well.  Its success is encouraging me to work on the apologetics online school which is now one half done.  I have finished the evolution section and am working on the abortion section.  If you are interested in signing up for it after it is released, great.  But, I honestly and seriously recommend that you first learn your Christian theology.  Besides, you need to know the basics of your faith.  The school is arranged in an easy-to-use form.  Here is what one person said, "I have completed the On-Line School of Theology, of which I found to be informative, well written, easy to understand, and thorough in its explanation of the basic tenets of Christianity.  This course is not written favoring any denomination, using only Bible scripture to address each subject listed. The course is well rounded and is suitable to both new and mature believers. It will answer many questions for the new believer and also help equip the more mature believer with understandable responses as to why we believe as we do. I feel this course is a prerequisite before study in Apologetics. Most cults use extensive training methods, teaching their followers exactly how to confuse believers. By our study of the basics we are then equipped to defend our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ."

By signing up you can support CARM and also learn good Christian theology.  If you're interested, then check out  The tuition is $50 and you can access it at  Also, you can use Paypal.  Instructions are found here.

Are you a sheep or goat?

There are only two kinds of people in the world: sheep and goats. Jesus Himself gave us this categorization when He said, "And all the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; 33 and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left," (Matt. 25:32-33). On the Day of Judgment, the Lord Jesus will judge the world. He will cause the nations to be gathered before Him. This means that everyone will face Him; everyone will be held accountable for their sins before Him. For those of us who were covered in the blood of Christ, who had been forgiven and cleansed by the blood (1 John 1:7), we will not face the wrath of God. But the goats, those who have not been cleansed by faith in Christ, they will experience the full brunt of God's holy and righteous judgment. Jesus will say to them, "Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels," (Matt. 25:41). Are you a sheep or a goat?

Many people think that because of their goodness it will somehow merit for them a place with God. Others think that because of their own sincerity, God will be more forgiving and tolerant of them and not condemn them to hell. Such false hopes can only lead to destruction, for the Bible tells us that there is none who is truly good (Rom. 3:10-12). And, to seek favor with God because of your own sincerity is to appeal to a quality in your self, which amounts to pride. By contrast, those who have experienced the presence of God, have also experienced humility because you were voluntarily humble yourself when you're in His holy presence.  They do not boast or hope of position with God because of anything in them.

The difference between being a sheep and a goat, spiritually, is the difference between night and day, life and death, salvation and destruction. The goats do not hear the voice of God. They are unregenerate and cannot hear Him because they have not been redeemed and do not have the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in them Who guides them and convicts them of sin and righteousness (John 16:8). But we Christians are indwelt by God (John 14:23). We have the presence of God. We are greatly privileged by His grace in redemption.

If you are a sheep, that is, if you are a Christian, then by necessity you must hear the voice of Christ. Jesus said, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28 and I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them out of My hand," (John 10:27-28). You will know that you are hearing the voice of your Lord if you are following Him. So, are you following Jesus? Are you following His words, His teachings, and His will. Are you seeking Him or something else?  Are you answering His voice or your own? These are questions only you can answer. They are questions we all need to answer.

We all need to hear Him more, to love Him more, and to seek Him more. As Christians we need to be in fellowship with Christ (1 Cor. 1:9) and follow Him as sheep follow their master and protector. We follow Him by faith as we trust that He will guide us and lead us. To hear the voice of Christ, is to hear the voice of God, who calls us to live by faith (Hab. 2:4). We are called to seek Him in prayer, in the word, and in the communion of the Saints. In this we follow the voice of our Lord.

So, make sure that the voice you are following is the True Voice.  How will you know?  Study the word of God and listen to Christ and become familiar with His voice.  Trust in Jesus to forgive you of all your sins and ask Him to cleanse you, to redeem you, and to save you from the wrath of God.  If you hear the voice of God, you will come to Christ for the Father points you to Him (John 6:45).  And, the true Jesus draws all men to Himself (John 12:32) and He bears witness of Himself (John 8:18).  Therefore, you hear the voice of Jesus when the focus is Jesus.

Memorization Verse
John 10:4-5,
"When he puts forth all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 And a stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers."
