CARM Newsletter 07-26-07
|
Welcome to the July 26, 2007 Newsletter Mini-devotional - Don't be anxious"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus," (Phil. 4:6-7). these often repeated verses are so important for the Christian. We are susceptible to worry, apprehension, and fear. Even though we trust in the true and living God there are times when we are anxious, not praying, and not being thankful. These words remind us of who God is. You see, there is a relationship between how much we trust God and how much we worry. Since God is the creator of the universe, the sovereign Lord, the one who became man and died for our sins, and we should not be worried about our lives. We need trust him even beyond our ability to comprehend. That is what true faith is. Faith measured by the amount of trust you put in God when everything around you encourages you to be unsettled. So, as you put your faith and hope in the living God, through the person of Jesus, you are free to not be anxious and to give all things to God in prayer and experience the peace that God brings. It's real, just as real as God is. Support I want to thank all of you who have been supporting CARM. The summer months have been rather tight and this week we got enough donations so we won't have to worry about finances for a few weeks. The Lord has provided and I know that he will continue to do so through the body of Christ. Going to North Carolina It looks like we have about 12 or 15 people who are interested in a small get-together when I go out to North Carolina to attend the 2007 National Conference on Christian Apologetics, Friday and Saturday, November 9th-10th, 2007 at Calvary Church Charlotte, NC. I have a friend out there who is trying to find a restaurant with a large enough room to hold maybe 20 or so people. When we get the information I will post it on CARM and provide a link to it here in the newsletter for anyone else who might want to join in. Again, if there are any CARM-ites out there who would like to get together for dinner or something, please e-mail me at [email protected] and I will contact you later with more details. CARM Blog We have been trying different blog setups and a couple of things have changed. I apologize for not being consistent but in the early stages of developing this, we sometimes need to make course corrections. We are still experimenting. We have two blogs one for the CARM website at http://carmorg.blogspot.com and another for the CARM podcasting for the radio show is at http://carmpodcasting.blogspot.com Why two? Different people are requesting difference purposes from the blogs. Some people want the CARM podcasting blog only for podcasting related issues while others are interested in CARM only. I figured I would just list two of them and see what happens. An idea I thought I would try this and see how it worked. I'm looking for quotes like this, "Jeffrey Dahmer, a psychopath who cannibalized his victims, acted on Darwin's advice. In an interview he said, “If a person doesn’t think there is a God to be accountable to, then…what is the point of trying to modify your behavior to keep it within acceptable ranges? That’s how I thought…I always believed the theory of evolution as truth, that we all just came from the slime.” (Dahmer in an interview with Stone Phillips, Dateline NBC, 11/29/1994)." I have over 20,000 people on this newsletter list. I figure there's a lot of resources out there. So, I thought it would ask if anyone knows of any other quotes like this. You see, I'm trying to collect such quotes for a paper on atheism. The atheists like to attack Christianity by saying things like Hitler was a Christian, et cetera. So, I'm looking for quotes that demonstrate detestable behavior based upon atheistic and/or evolutionary principles. If you know of any, with documentation so I can check them out, please e-mail them to me at [email protected] Thanks. Radio Show If you are interested in listening to past podcasts of radio show, you can go to http://carmpodcasting.blogspot.com. You can also go to iTunes.com and type in "carm.org" and you'll find it right away. Logos Software Check out http://www.logos.com/carm for a great Bible program. I use it all the time.
