CARM Newsletter 09-22-06

Welcome to the Sept. 22, 2006 Newsletter

From the President, Matt Slick

Slow week
There isn't a whole bunch to report. We have been battling the errancy and inerrancy issue on the discussion boards, but that battle seems to be slowing down. The Faith and Reason Radio show is doing well. This week I interviewed three guests. One of them was particularly interesting. His name was Cosmo. He was raised in Asia and for security purposes he wouldn't say exactly where. Cosmo's father was a pastor. But Cosmo backslid for many years and ended up being a bodyguard for a pseudo-mafia type group. He ended up being captured by the government and tortured -- including bamboo shoots up his fingernails, extremely hot pepper blown into his eyes and his nostrils, and also being beaten with the end of a rifle butt. in the latter case, he was left for dead and dumped on a roadside. A witch doctor woman found him and nursed him back to health. It was after that, that he we dedicated his life to the Lord and he now runs a Ministry starting churches in the Asian area.

Stats
The Lord has greatly blessed this Ministry in many ways, most of which has been the prayerful support of countless Christians. The results of the efforts are seen in the stats for the CARM website. Over the past seven days, the CARM homepage has been accessed on average of 5,303 times per day, with 3,676 unique visitors, and 1,712 returning visitors. The whole CARM site has been accessed an average of 46,337 times, with 13,117 unique visitors, and 2,672 returning visitors - daily. This means that for a whole year the whole site will have been accessed 2,411,604 times, with 682,106 unique visitors, and 138,944 returning visitors. The internet is awesome.

Love and Hate Mail

CARM is constantly getting e-mails of thanks and praise and condemnation. Here are a few...in the raw.

  • Hate mail:

    • If you people would spend more time on applying Matthew 28:19, 20. You wouldn't have time to spread your lying propaganda.
    • All this antimormonism is all lie's and the truth is not in you you have not the spirit of truth , all this is the teachings of the precept of men , Isaiah CH 29:11-12-13-14 You're works and writings and so called wisdom will some day perish. the sooner the better. you fools of fools.
    • Before I begin I would like to say that I have studied the Mormon religion in depth and attended seminary on all subjects available. By the information posted on the carm webpage you have violated the constitution of the united states of America. How do I know that? Because I am a legal lawyer. 1. You may voice your opinion to an extent 2. You cannot put falsified information out on the internet. 3. Before you can enter information to anyone you must study the bible and books on Mormons written by the head of the church. To begin read the following Ephesians 4:4-5. There is one body and one spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; ONE lord ONE faith ONE Baptism, One god and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all. Watch your steps and change your information because I am giving you a warning now and I will prosecute and it will be known all over.
    • I should insult you guys but I'm not cause I feel sorry for you guys cause you guys are going to be destroyed hahahahahah
  • Love mail
    • I found your site only a few days ago. I am always cautious when it comes to the Lords word. So I really looked into everything on your site looking for some false teaching. I was pleased to see that the views expressed on your site are biblically based and well researched. If you were not doing the Lords Will you would not be attacked like I have read in your hate mail section. You will be in my prayers. Keep running the race....
    • God bless you for everything you've done to defend our very precious faith in Christ Jesus. I am overwhelmed of praises to God because of your website, and I thank God for you and your staff who stand firmly against the forces of darkness. We, as believers in the Philippines are here to shield you in prayers. Thanks for this wonderful website and wonderful people of God like you. Thanks!
    • I am in Florida, and listen to your show almost every night. I listen through the internet. I enjoy the show very much. I love how you use so much scripture to back up everything you say. I wish you would talk about the Jehovah witnesses soon. I have two of them coming by with the watchtower and awake magazines every couple of weeks. Thanks for all the work you do.
    • Hello, I just e-mailed to commend the you for the website. I am a 20 year old Christian who will be going to Bible College in a year to Study to get into ministry. Your website has been a great help because of all the information it contains and how Christian theology and doctrine is explained so well. Whenever a question about Christianity had been raised by those around me or myself I have always turned to your site for answers. It has also helped me tremendously with my faith in light of all the criticism of Christianity I see in the media or from friends. God Bless the people who keep this sight running and updated, it is a tremendous blessing to those who are weak in faith or are looking for truth. God Bless you.

From the Theological Dictionary
Eisegesis
Eisegesis is when a person interprets and reads information into the text that is not there. An example would be in viewing 1 Cor. 8:5 which says, "For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many," (KJV). With this verse, Mormons, for example, bring their preconceived idea of the existence of many gods to this text and assert that it says there are many gods. But that is not what it says. It says that there are many that are called gods. Being called a god doesn't make it a god. Therefore, the text does not teach what the Mormons say and they are guilty of eisegesis; that is, reading into the text what it does not say. See also exegesis.

In Jesus,

Rev. Matt Slick, your missionary to the Internet. Equipping the church to defend the faith in a secular society.
