The Temple Veil was destroyed by God, yet Mormonism puts it back

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints claims to be the true Christian church with the fullness of the gospel. Its temples, we are told, are holy places where God dwells and where the same sacred ordinances of the biblical pattern are performed. 

  • "Following the pattern of Biblical days, the Lord again in our day has provided these ordinances for all who will believe, and directs that temples be built in which to perform those sacred rites” (LDS Apostle Mark E. Petersen, Why Mormons Build Temples, p. 3).
  • “His hope fore us is eternal life. We qualify for it by obedience to covenants and ordinances of the temple – for ourselves, our families, and our ancestors” (LDS Apostle Russell M. Nelson, “Now is the time to prepare,” Ensign (Conference Edition), May 2005, p.18).

Each LDS Temple has a veil which is used in their sacred endowment ceremony. The veil represents the separation between the mortal state (here) and the heavenly state (after death). The veil has holes in it and a temple worker sits on one side while the Mormon is on the other. The temple worker then shows the Mormon the four tokens, special handshakes, which will be used later in the afterlife in the process of becoming gods when the faithful Mormon shakes hands with God, thus demonstrating he has been a faithful Mormon.

However...

"And it was now about the sixth hour, and darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour, 45 the sun being obscured; and the veil of the temple was torn in two. 46 And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into Thy hands I commit My spirit.” And having said this, He breathed His last," (Luke 23:44-46).

God dwelt in the Temple, not the devil. 

At Jesus' death, the veil in the temple was torn in two - by God. He destroyed it. Why?  Because biblically, the separation between God and us (symbolized by that veil) was removed through the sacrificial blood of Christ. This means that God destroyed the veil.

Question for the Mormons

Why does the LDS church put into their temples the veil that God destroyed by tearing it in two?

Think about it. God destroyed the veil. He "got rid of it." Yet, the LDS church put it back.  If the LDS church is true, why would it put back into their temples the very thing that God destroyed?
