- What does the
word "authority" mean?
Authority basically means
the power and right to enforce. For the Christian it means we
have the right to be children of God (John 1:12), to teach God's
word, and that we should submit to God's word.
- Why is the
Bible authoritative?
It is authoritative because it is authored and inspired
by God. It derives its authority from God, not from men and
not from the church.
- Why is Isaiah
55:11 important?
"So shall My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It
shall not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire,
and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it,"
(Isaiah 55:11). It is important because we need to trust in
the authority of God's word and use it when defending and teaching
the Christian faith.
