- How many books
are in the Bible?
There are 66 books in the Bible. 39 in the Old
Testament and 27 in the New Testament. Note: 3 x 9 = 27
- How many
languages was the Bible written in?
Three: Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.
- What one verse
describes what the Bible is about?
John 5:39,
"You search
the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal
life; and it is these that bear witness of Me."
- Does the fact
that the Bible mentions other books mean that there are lost books
of the Bible or that those other books are inspired? Why or
why not?
No.
The other books are not Scripture. They were never intended to
be included in the Bible. The Jewish and the Christian
community has never recognized these books as being parts of the
Bible. Their existence does not mean that the Bible is not complete,
nor does it mean that they were taken out of the Bible. The
fact is that they never were part of the Bible to begin with.
The Christian Church simple recognized what was scripture. It
didn't determine it.
- By the end of
what century were the books of the Bible finally established?
By the end of the fourth century.
