  5. Greek word Bapt*

  1. "In the LXX (Lev. 4:6) we have, “The priest shall dip his finger in blood seven times and sprinkle of the blood seven times before the Lord,” where “dip” is baptō (βαπτω) (related to baptizō (βαπτιζω)), and “sprinkle,” rantizō (ῥαντιζω), baptō (βαπτω) referring to the action of placing the finger in the blood. In Luke 16:24, the rich man asks that Lazarus dip (baptō (βαπτω)) his finger in water and cool his tongue.(Wuest, Kenneth S. Wuest's Word Studies from the Greek New Testament: For the English Reader. Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 1997. p. 96.)
