A posteriori

A posteriori

A posteriori is a Latin term, “from the latter,” which refers to knowledge or thought that is based upon experience.  It is used in relation to reasoning in the category of epistemology (the study of knowledge).  Where a priori knowledge is not based upon experience, a posteriori knowledge is based on experience and observable evidence.
