An ark is a boat or vessel which contains something. The word "ark" occurs about 240 times in the Bible. It refers to the vessel that Noah built - Noah's Ark, in which various animals entered in preparation for the flood (Gen. 6-9; 1 Pet. 3:20). It also refers to the Ark of the Covenant (Deut. 10:8) and the Ark of the Testimony.
