Ebionism is the heresy dealing with the nature of Christ which stated that Jesus was not divine, was only an ordinary man, and became the "Son of God" when the Father adopted him when the Holy Spirit came upon him at his baptism (Matt. 3:16). The Ebionites stressed obedience to the Mosaic Law and an ascetic lifestyle. This view is false due to the following scriptures: John 1:1,14; Col. 2:9; Phil. 2:5-8; Heb. 1:8.
