Israelite

An Israelite is a descendant of Jacob whose name was changed by God to “Israel.” “He said, “Your name shall no longer be Jacob, but Israel; for you have striven with God and with men and have prevailed.” (Gen. 32:28). Therefore, the Israelites are the descendants of Israel, who were enslaved in Egypt and led out by Moses into the land of Canaan which became Israel.
