Paraclete is the Greek words for “helper, comforter, and advocate.” It is used in John 14:16, 26; 15:26; 16:7, and 1 John 2:1. In each instance, it is in reference to the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the Holy Spirit is sometimes referred to in theological discussion as the Paraclete.
