A utopia is the state of being that is the best possible condition.  A utopia would be a situation, for example in a society, where everyone is happy, there is no sickness, no starvation, no poverty, etc.  It would be a state of perfection in a social context.  Utopias are often used in fictional stories as the ideal in which a society operates but oftentimes has sinister ramifications.
