The CARM Laptop is slow and clunky and I often wait for it to do things while on the radio show. Last week I finally got frustrated while I was talking to a caller and for the umpteenth time, as I tried to do something to answer a question, I had to wait. This has happened enough times to be a problem.
In addition, when I travel to speaking engagements and debates I need to take that slow laptop with me, but it is too big (17") to sit in on a tray on a plane and work comfortably (no first class for me). So, I need something to replace it, something faster and not so clunky, and also during down times I can watch movies. To that end I'm trying to raise the funds to get a Surface Book since it will be fast, the right size to work at the radio station, carry on planes, and will be big enough to take notes during debates, as well as serve as a platform from which to teach.
Yes, I know that there are cheaper options out there, but I've tried to save money before and end up frustrated. When it comes to technology, always get something a little better than what you think you need and you won't have any regrets. I know I'll able to use it for years to come without any problems.
