The Democratic Party portrays itself as the party of the people, full of compassion, help, and economic provision. This is a history of the Democratic Party in America that is not taught in schools nor in the leftist news media. I present it here so that you might be more informed.democratic party

Worthwhile quotes

  1. “The Democratic Party was formed around the election of Andrew Jackson in 1828. Its platform was mainly a negative one in the sense that it was “against” big government and progressive reforms—such as the abolition of slavery. Instead, it presented itself as the champion of “individual liberty”—starting with the liberty to own slaves.” (https://socialistrevolution.org/a-short-history-of-the-democratic-party)
  2. The Democratic Party has changed significantly during its more than two centuries of existence. During the 19th century the party supported or tolerated slavery, and it opposed civil rights reforms after the American Civil War in order to retain the support of Southern voters.” (https://thereaderwiki.com/en/History_of_the_Democratic_Party_(United_States))
  3. “…every segregation law in the United States, from the 1880s to the 1950s was passed by a Democratic legislature, signed by a Democratic governor, enforced by Democratic officials, and there is not a single exception to this rule…The Democrats were the party of slavery, of segregation, of founding the Ku Klux Klan, of reviving the Ku Klux Klan, of racial terrorism, and of opposition to the civil rights movement of the 1960s. The opposition to the civil rights act of 1964, the voting rights act of 1965, the fair housing bill of 1968 came mainly from the Democratic party, and that’s a fact.” (Dinesh D’Souza, March 2019, Stanford University. https://www.wayoflife.org/reports/the_democratic_party_is_the_party_of_slavery.php)
  4. “…the first 23 African Americans in Congress did belong to the Republican Party, due to the GOP’s support of voting rights and the Democratic Party’s embrace of white supremacy.” (https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/06/18/fact-check-democrats-republicans-and-complicated-history-race/3208378001)
  5. The Democrats were the party of slavery, black codes, Jim Crow, and that miserable terrorist excrescence, the Ku Klux Klan. Republicans were the party of Lincoln, Reconstruction, anti-lynching laws, and the civil rights acts of 1875, 1957, 1960, and 1964.” (https://www.nationalreview.com/2015/06/democratic-party-racist-history-mona-charen)
