CARM Newsletter 02/11/2002

Tomorrow night, I will be on a plane to Utah.  I'll arrive late, be picked up by Bill McKeever of and spend several days passing out literature in Salt Lake City with him and other Christians.  The literature exposes Mormonism's doctrines as unbiblical.  Of course, there will be opposition.  But, by God's grace, all of us who are there, will brave the cold and the ridicule to hand out as much information as we can.  Please remember to keep us in your prayers.  Combine heightened security with the eyes of the world watching the Olympics and its surroundings, and we will be in a touchy situation, right there in Mormonism's headquarters.

I've done this kind of thing before.  On Sunday mornings, I've stood on the sidewalks in front of Mormon churches passing out literature exposing their false doctrines.  I've been spit at, threatened with arrest (by a Mormon cop), had eggs thrown at me, been yelled at, and got into a tussle with a Mormon who tried to steal my tracts right out of my hands.  I've never been belligerent and have always been polite.  But, that hasn't stopped some wackos (not all Mormons are so aggressive), from threatening me with bodily injury as one Mormon did while he was being restrained by other members of his church.  So, as you can see, this is naturally a touchy thing to do.  Being on the home turf of the Mormons isn't going to make it any easier.

But, I know that the Lord is with us and nothing will happen that isn't by His permission.  Please keep myself and the rest of the Christians at the Utah Olympics in your prayers.

Finally, I want to thank all of who who so graciously provided donations for this trip that have covered the expenses and the loss of wages from work as I take several days off to go to Utah.  I have received your offerings and they have given my wife and I a real peace.  We know that the Lord is blessing us and approving of this trip in Utah.  Thank you.  You have made it possible for me to go.

May the Lord bless you.

About four years ago on April 1st, I received a call from Ron Reed, a Christian radio host in Oregon, who wanted me to fill in for the "Cult Buster" seat on his show since a guest of his couldn't make it.  I asked him who put him up to this (remember, it was April 1st) and it took him about five minutes to convince me it was for real.  To make a long story short, I agreed to do the show and we ended up working together for two years until schedule changes made it impossible for me to continue.  Ron did all the technical stuff and all I had to do was call in once a week and field questions from callers.  It was a lot of fun.

Ron has a website at  He is a good man of God who is definitely called into the radio ministry.  Ron's show is five days a week and he has different guests and topics during each day.  Ron has asked me to start doing a weekly, call-in radio show with him again in March.  Since I work during the day (until CARM goes full time), we will record the show in the evening and he will play it back during the afternoon.

Paltalk is a great voice chat program you can get at  I use it very frequently in my discussion with cult members, Christians, atheists, Muslims, etc.  It keeps me sharp (I hope).  Ron and I will use Paltalk to generate question.  We will create a room, invite lots of people to enter it and they can ask all the questions they want.  Since Ron and I are both pretty well known in the Paltalk Christian circles, it shouldn't be any problem at all getting a bunch of people to participate.  Isn't technology wonderful?  Heck, I love the Internet.  Sometimes I feel like marrying the internet.  (...don't tell my wife...)

BTW (by the way), if any of you would like to talk to me on paltalk all you have to do is go to, register and download the FREE program, install it, go to the Crhistianity section, go into a discussion room and ask "Hey, where's Matt Slick?"  Most there either love me or hate me.  Remember though, in order to talk, you'll need a microphone.  But, if you don't have one, you can listen in (if you have speakers) and can type in the text box in each room.  It is a great program.

Do you know the answer to the question?  What do you think?  Is He?  Well, the answer is, "Yes, He is a man right now."  This is important because Jesus is the high priest after the order of Melchizedek who forever is interceding for us to the Father (Heb. 6:20).  If He isn't a man, then He can't be a priest.  If He isn't a priest, then He can't intercede for us and that would be a disaster for us.
