Tulip Week Notes

by | Apr 2, 2016 | Doctrine and Theology, Christian Theology

The notes used for Tulip Week where Matt Slick defends the five main points of Calvinism.

As the founder of CARM, and being reformed in my theology, I’ve always tried to keep my Calvinist perspective to a minimum here on this website. My desire has not been to push people towards Reformed Theology. Instead, it has been to teach people about Christ and refute the error of false religious and secular systems of thought.

However, lately, I have seen how Christians have attacked Calvinism, and Calvinists, by misrepresenting it and thereby causing division in the body of Christ. This unfortunate reality is on the rise and as a concerned Christian who thinks it is more important that we fight against the heresies that bring damnation instead of fighting other Christians, I decided to present a defense of the five points of Calvinism on my radio show. My goal was never to convince people it was true, though I must admit that I like that idea. Instead, my goal was to inform Christians so that they might get a proper understanding of reformed theology and also recognize that we hold to our five points for biblical reasons.

Romans 14:1-12 tells us not to pass judgment on debatable issues. I believe in this principle and have never sought to judge those who do not hold the same debatable issues that I do. But, this is not stopped many Christians from violating Romans 14 and passing judgment, even condemning Calvinists to the fires of hell.  This attitude is, in my opinion, sinful and needs to be stopped. So, here’s my attempt to provide accurate information on what the five points of Calvinism are in the Scriptures.

I hope you find this informative.
