Should Christians Support Israel?

by | Nov 26, 2010 | Questions, Other

Should Christians Support Israel? Yes, we should. After all, the nation of Israel is God’s original chosen people and Paul the apostle tells us that God is not done with Israel.

“For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery, lest you be wise in your own estimation, that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fulness of the Gentiles has come in; 26 and thus all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, “The Deliverer will come from Zion. He will remove ungodliness from Jacob.”  27 “And this is My covenant with them, when I take away their sins.”  28 From the standpoint of the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but from the standpoint of God’s choice they are beloved for the sake of the fathers; 29 for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable,” (Rom. 11:25-29).

We should support any nation that holds to the word of God. Even though Israel is, sadly, secular in many ways and has not received Jesus as the Messiah, God has told us that there will come a time when Israel will be used of God again. After all, it says, “all of Israel will be saved.”

So, it is proper to pray for Israel and to support Israel. But be careful not to support it in every aspect, for we are only to support it in so far as it is biblical.
