What makes CARM right about what it teaches?

by | Aug 17, 2013 | CARM

What makes CARM right about what it teaches? CARM is only correct as far as we are in agreement with God’s Word, the Bible. The goal of CARM is to be as faithful to the Scriptures as possible when we analyze theological and secular philosophies and seek to bring them in line with Christ’s truth. We have no agenda other than that.

Nevertheless, there are many groups that say they are consistent with God’s Word but really are not. Some of these groups are the Mormons, the Jehovah’s Witnesses, Christian Science, etc. These are considered non-Christian cults because they deviate from the teaching of Scripture sufficiently to make salvation impossible. So how would we know if CARM is being consistent with the word of God or not?

The answer lies in reading the totality of Scripture and being able to harmonize everything it teaches. Here at CARM, we don’t need to submit to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society (Jehovah’s Witnesses) that has altered the Bible to make it agree with its presuppositions. We’re not like the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons), who have additional scriptures and claim that Joseph Smith restored the lost gospel. We know the gospel was not lost because the great apostasy will not occur until the antichrist has been revealed (2 Thessalonians 2:3). We know that the Roman Catholic Church is not true (despite its claims to be the only true church) because of its contradiction to the word of God in the area of salvation and Mary (for more information on this, see the Roman Catholic section).

Furthermore, there are basic principles for understanding Scripture and we have an article on this:  How to Interpret the Bible. We suggest that you learn the basic idea of what it means to read the word of God and interpret it so you can check what CARM says against the word of God. Don’t make a doctrine out of a single verse. Don’t trust what somebody else says and then apply it to Scripture. Go to the Scriptures yourself. Read the word of God. Study it and make sure that you compare everything CARM says to Scripture. The Scriptures are the final authority because they are inspired (2 Timothy 3:16), not CARM.
