In Shawano Wisconson, 15-year-old Brandon Wegner wrote an op-ed piece for his school’s newspaper where he explained the biblical position on parenthood and shared his opinion that homosexual couples should not be allowed to adopt children.  He quoted Leviticus 20:13, “If a man also lies with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.” ¹http://www.deseretnews.com/article/700219619/Boy-15-reprimanded-for-backing-traditional-family-in-school-paper.html?pg=all For his politically incorrect opinion based on his religious convictions, he was reprimanded by the school.

“he was pulled into hours of meetings with school administrators and staff, without his parents’ knowledge…Brandon was hauled before the superintendent on charges that he had violated the school’s bullying policy…Wegner stated that he did not regret writing it and that he stood behind his beliefs, Superintendent Carlson told him that he “had got to be one of the most ignorant kids to try to argue with him about this topic,” that “we have the power to suspend you if we want to” and that the column had “personally offended me, so I know you offended other people!”²http://www.lc.org/index.cfm?PID=14100&PRID=1144

Apparently not being offended is the right of the liberal left who think nothing of trampling underfoot the right of Christians to express their religious opinions.  Yep, we know how it works. But what is really interesting is that

“Brandon’s opinion was a part of an editorial page which presented viewpoints both for and against homosexual adoption, each articulated by students.  After the school newspaper was published in the local town paper, a homosexual in the community complained to the school. School officials then censored Brandon’s article forcing him and his classmates to pull the page out of the newspaper before distribution at the school.”³ibid

Did you get that? He was responding and giving the other side of the argument but was censored. Now, what would’ve happened if a school newspaper had required a pro-homosexual peace to be removed? Obviously the homosexual agenda would have come stomping into the school with all its self-righteous stomping in vilification.

Mathew Staver, Founder, and Chairman of Liberty Counsel said, “The bullying at Shawano High School is by Superintendent Todd Carlson and the school officials, not the student, Brandon Wegner. The school officials have displayed blatant intolerance of a view on homosexuality held by many people. The school’s actions are shocking and unjustified. The superintendent should immediately apologize and stop the bullying.”⁴ibid
