Email: Why do you spend so much time and energy trying to find fault with the Mormons? Is this a Christian practice?
Response: It is not that we’re trying to find fault with Mormonism. The truth is that Mormonism is not Christian by its very definition. In Mormonism, God came from another planet, and he has a goddess wife. In Christianity, God did not come from another planet, and he does not have a goddess wife. Both statements cannot be true at the same time regarding who God is. Furthermore, Mormonism teaches that Jesus is the brother of the devil and one of several gods and the Godhead. In Christianity, Jesus is not the brother with double, nor is he one of several gods and the Godhead. In Mormonism, people have the potential of becoming gods of their own worlds. In Christianity, this is not so–you cannot become gods of your own worlds. Mormonism teaches that God the Father has a body of flesh and bones (D. & C. 130:22). But, the Bible tells us that God is spirit (John 4:24) and that spirit does not have flesh and bones (Luke 24:39).
Since simple logic tells us that you cannot have mutually exclusive statements both be true, then we conclude that eit
her Mormonism is false, Christianity is false, or both of them are. But, since the Bible tells us, for example, that there is only one God who has always been God (Psalm 90:2) and that there will be no gods formed after God (Isaiah 43:10) and that he knows of no other gods (Isaiah 44:8), then Mormonism is the teaching that is false.
Finally, is it a Christian practice to expose the teachings of Mormonism in comparison to the Bible? The answer is yes. The practice of truth is definitely a Christian goal. Since Jesus said that in the last days many false Christs and false prophets would arise and deceive many (Matt. 24:24), we are simply telling people that Mormonism teaches a false Christ that was authored by a false prophet, namely, Joseph Smith.
Faith is only as good as whom you put it in. If you put your faith in a false Christ, that faith cannot save you no matter how sincere you are. This is why it is so important that we understand who God is in truth and not according to a man, Joseph Smith, who boasted that he did more than even Jesus to keep a church together.
