Genus

Genus, in biology, refers to the classification of life that is below family and above species. It is generally considered to be a grouping of species. For example, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and cats would all be under the genus of feline. Wolves and dogs would be classified under the genus of canine. See Taxonomic Rank.
