Phylogeny

Phylogeny

Phylogeny, in evolutionary theory, is the grouping of organisms on a larger scale rather than a smaller one. For example, a phylogenetic grouping would consist of all primates without the narrower subclassifications of various primates within that grouping. Birds are a phylogenetic group that includes all subspecies of birds.
