Priest

Priest

This is a person having the ability to perform certain religious rites, sacraments. Generally, a priest stands between God and man and administers the ceremonial rites on behalf of the individuals as an offering to God. In many churches (Roman Catholic), the priest is below the Bishop in ecclesiastical order and rank.

Biblically, all Christians are priests. 1 Pet. 2:9 says, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” Christians are priests in that they “offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ,” (1 Pet. 2:5).
