Sorcery is the practice of using incantations and/or spells to control the spiritual realm in order to gain power and manipulate people and things. Sorcery was forbidden in Israel (Deut. 18:10) and was punishable by death (Exodus 22:8). It was practiced in Egypt (Exodus 7:11), Assyria (Nahum. 3:4), and Babylonia (Dan. 2:2). It is listed as one of the sins in Gal. 5:20.
