Is disapproving of homosexuality and homosexual marriage spreading hate?

Is disapproving of homosexuality and homosexual marriage spreading hate?Β  Teaching that homosexuality is a sin is not spreading hate any more than teaching that lying is a sin is spreading hate. Christians can disapprove of behavior and still be civil and loving to the ones with whom we disagree. According to the Bible, Christians are to live in peace with everyone as much as possible (Rom. 12:18); but we are not to compromise the word of God and participate in those things to which the Scriptures speak against.Β  Furthermore, when we call homosexuality a sin, we are saying that it violates the Word of God.Β  It is breaking the law of God and is therefore wrong.Β  But we Christians meet sinners every day, and we treat them lovingly.Β  This is what the New Testament tells us.Β  Jesus said, β€œBy this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another,” (John 13:35).

Still, many in the pro-homosexual agenda will consider any negative speech about homosexuality to be spreading hate.Β  This is just a technique they use in order to silence the opposition and control how the dialogue is done.Β  Let’s take a look at the legal definition of hate speech.

  • definitions.uslegal.com, “Hate speech is a communication that carries no meaning other than the expression of hatred for some group, especially in circumstances in which the communication is likely to provoke violence. It is an incitement to hatred primarily against a group of persons defined in terms of race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and the like. Hate speech can be any form of expression regarded as offensive to racial, ethnic and religious groups and other discrete minorities or to women.”

As Christians, we are not supposed to hate homosexuals, adulterers, murderers, liars, etc.Β  Our speech is not to be motivated out of the expression of hatred from some groups.Β  We wholeheartedly disapprove of their sinful actions, but we also pray for them along with those who persecute us and have wronged us (Luke 6:28).Β  This is not spreading hate, nor is it the intention of this website to spread hatred.Β  Instead, it is to defend the biblical position, to demonstrate the health risks of homosexuality, and to uphold the standard and traditional definition of marriage being between a man and a woman.

But, accusing Christians of spreading hatred is something the liberals and pro-homosexual regularly do.Β  It is they who express disdain and ridicule for the Christian community, and it is they who are spreading hatred in their open and consistent negative campaign against Christians.
