Did God the Father appear physically in creation at any time? We can’t say definitely yes or no since we can’t say how such a manifestation of the Father might occur. However, biblically speaking, we don’t find any record of the physical appearance of the Father. Instead, physical manifestations of God (Gen. 17:1; 18:1; Exodus 6:2-3; 24:1-11) are the pre-incarnate Christ because Jesus said no one had ever seen God the Father (John 6:46). Paul likewise revealed that the Father has never been seen (1 Tim. 6:16).
- John 6:46, “Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father.”
- 1 Tim. 6:16, “who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.”
So, the Father has never been seen. But, we do see the presence of the Father recorded in the Bible – though it was not a physical form. Consider the following verses.
- Matt. 3:17, “and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased.'”
- Matt. 17:5, “While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, ‘This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!'”
- Mark 1:11, “and a voice came out of the heavens: ‘You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.'”
- Mark 9:7, “Then a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, ‘This is My beloved Son, listen to Him!'”
- Luke 3:22, “and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came out of heaven, ‘You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.'”
- Luke 9:35, “Then a voice came out of the cloud, saying, ‘This is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to Him!’”
- John 12:28, “Father, glorify Your name.” Then a voice came out of heaven: ‘I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.’”
Conclusion
As for the question Did God the Father appear physically in creation at any time? Scripture shows that God the Father never appeared in physical form anywhere. But since He is manifested in speech, we can say people experienced His presence.
