Rules for Radicals by Saul Alinsky

by | Mar 4, 2021 | Social Justice, Secular Issues

Rules for radicals was written by Saul Alinsky (1909-1972) in 1971. It is “the end justifies the means” approach to bring about a radical change in society. It has proven both effective and dangerous. Many leftists have used principles in the book as a blueprint for organizing, radicalizing, and implementing ‘progressive’ ideologies. Homosexuality, transgenderism, racism, LGBTQ, radical feminism, etc., are all topics that once were taboo but now are common in airwaves, print, and on the internet. But along with their forced awareness is their immorality. We’ve been desensitized to the increasing depravity, and because of it, we are sliding downward towards greater sin. Accompanying that downward slide is the leftist propaganda of cultural and economic injustices. LGBTQ and minorities are set against white people so that the classic Marxist bourgeoisie (haves) and proletariat (have nots) conflict is propagated. The result is protests, riots, the cancel culture, denial of free speech, and threats against the free exercise of religion.

Rules for Radicals is dedicated to Lucifer!

Saul Alinski dedicates his book to Rabbi Hillel, Thomas Paine, and Lucifer!

“Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins—or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom—Lucifer.”
Alinsky, Saul. Rules for Radicals: A Pragmatic Primer for Realistic Radicals . Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group. Kindle Edition

The seriousness of this abominable dedication is beyond words. Saul Alinski is wicked.

Society has momentum, and its momentum is downward.

That is exactly what “Rules for Radicals” promotes. The far left has abandoned reason, rejected traditional morals, and promoted a so-called democratic socialist agenda. Their self-righteous, arrogant ignorance is astounding. Even though socialism has failed miserably all over the world, here in America, the left says they will do it right.  Their arrogance and ignorance contribute to our nation’s demise. And if it fails, who will they blame?  Themselves?  Of course not.

Like Nazi Germany, they will need a scapegoat…and it is already here with the culture’s collective denigration of conservatives and the Judeo-Christian framework that established our country. Conservatives are canceled, fired, threatened, and forced into self-censorship.

“Racism is everywhere,” the progressives declare. “White ain’t right.” “We must change the old ways.” “Silence is violence.”

Societies decay

Progressivism has trampled underfoot the morality that established our country and is replacing it with a new self-centered, immorality, and socialist ideology. Our country is at a crossroads. We can go left or right. But, unfortunately, it is the nature of people to increase in their depravity. Along with it, society decays as well. There is a downhill momentum to our culture that only the hand of God can change. One thing is for sure. What used to be considered morally deviant is now the norm, and what used to be considered moral is now immoral.  So, if you oppose homosexuality, you’re a homophobe. If you oppose socialism, you’re benefiting from white supremacy.

Isaiah 5:20, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!”

Rules for Radicals

The following list is taken from the book “Rules for Radicals” by Alinsky. It summarizes the methodology of attack and forced change found in the chapter called “Tactics.”Rules for Radicals by Saul Alinsky

  1. “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.” (p. 126)
  2. “Never go outside the expertise of your people.” (p. 126)
  3. “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy. Here you want to cause confusion, fear, and retreat.”  (p. 126)
  4. “Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules. You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity.”  (p. 127)
  5. “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” (p. 127)
  6. “A good tactic is one that your people enjoy.  If your people are not having a ball doing it, there is something very wrong with the tactic.” (p. 128).
  7. “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag. Man can sustain militant interest in any issue for only a limited time…” (p. 128).
  8. “Keep the pressure on, with different tactics and actions, and utilize all events of the period for your purpose.” (pp. 128-129).
  9. “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” (p. 129).
  10. “The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition. It is this unceasing pressure that results in the reactions from the opposition that are essential for the success of the campaign.” (p. 129).
  11. “If you push a negative hard and deep enough it will break through into its counterside; this is based on the principle that every positive has its negative. ” (p. 129).
  12. “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative. You cannot risk being trapped by the enemy in his sudden agreement with your demand and saying “You’re right—we don’t know what to do about this issue. Now you tell us.” (p. 130).
  13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.. In conflict tactics there are certain rules that the organizer should always regard as universalities. One is that the opposition must be singled out as the target and “frozen.” By this I mean that in a complex, interrelated, urban society, it becomes increasingly difficult to single out who is to blame for any particular evil. There is a constant, and somewhat legitimate, passing of the buck. In these times of urbanization, complex metropolitan governments, the complexities of major interlocked corporations, and the interlocking of political life between cities and counties and metropolitan authorities, the problem that threatens to loom more and more is that of identifying the enemy.” (pp. 130-131).

It should be obvious that these 13 rules are subversive. They are designed to manipulate and force change in society. Notice that they don’t use truth as the standard. Instead, half-truths, threats, attacks, and ridicule are the weapons of choice. They don’t stand on the word of God or any form of goodness.

The Bible

The Bible warns us that many people will turn away from sound doctrine in the last days and because they want to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves false teachers (2 Tim. 4:3). Likewise, people will become lovers of selves and money. They will be ungrateful for what they have. They will become unloving, haters of good, and seekers of pleasure rather than God (2 Tim. 3:2-4).  This is the natural result of human depravity (Isaiah 64:6; Rom. 3:10-12; 6:23).  So, people, as a whole, will always move away from God and towards selfishness and narcissistic ideologies. The result will be the abandonment of reason and morality that will manifest in a culture shift and a downward political spiral. With the unbridled pursuit of pleasure, individualism, and the abandonment of the ethical and social cohesion found in the Judeo-Christian worldview, the results must necessarily be oppression and loss of freedom.

It’s coming.

Pray that God will deliver us.
