Husbands

by | May 31, 2010 | Bible Verses by Topic, The Bible

A list of Scripture on the topic of husbands arranged in an outline, topical order. The Bible clearly lays out their duties, responsibilities, and place in the family.

  1. Love your Wife
    1. Ephesians 5:33, “Nevertheless let each individual among you also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see to it that she respect her husband.”
    2. 1 Peter 3:7, “You husbands likewise, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with a weaker vessel, since she is a woman; and grant her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.”
  2. Provide for Family
    1. 1 Timothy 5:8, “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.”
  3. Relationship to Wife
    1. Ephesians 5:22-29, Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. 24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her; 26 that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she should be holy and blameless. 28 So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; 29 for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church.”
  4. Sexual Duties of
    1. Proverbs 5:15-19, “Drink water from your own cistern, and fresh water from your own well. 16 Should your springs be dispersed abroad, streams of water in the streets? 17 Let them be yours alone, and not for strangers with you. 18 Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth. 19 As a loving hind and a graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy you at all times; be exhilarated always with her love.”
    2. 1 Cor. 7:3, “Let the husband fulfill his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband.”
