Women subjection is part of the curse that is removed in salvation

by | Dec 2, 2008 | Apologetics, Women in Ministry

Those who seek to provide biblical support for women being pastors and elders sometimes say that the issue of women subjection, which was part of the curse, was removed in salvation. After all, there’s “neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus,” (Gal. 3:28). The problem with this argument is that Adam named Eve, designating his authority position, before the fall. Furthermore, Paul the apostle says in his epistles that pastors and elders are to be the husbands of one wife (Titus 1:5–6; 1 Timothy 3:2). He was addressing the church (1 Tim. 3:15). Therefore, the argument raised by the egalitarians does not work.

This objection was already addressed in the article, The Genesis statement of Adam ruling over Eve, is not God’s perfect will.

“To the woman He said, ‘I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth.  In pain you shall bring forth children.  Yet your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you,” (Genesis 3:16).

If the curse of the husband ruling over the wife is removed in salvation, then the curse of childbirth pain should also be removed.  The simple fact is that they do still have pain – Christian women included.  Therefore, this is proof that the curse is not removed.

For egalitarians to actually raise the objection is so utterly ridiculous that one must wonder what other common sense they must ignore in order to justify their position.
