Yes, God can really forgive you of all your sins. All of them. Every one. But, receiving forgiveness is by faith in Jesus. It means you must believe in and accept the death of Jesus who is God the Son (John 1:1, 14; 5:18; 1 Tim. 2:5), who never sinned (1 Peter 2:22), and became a sacrifice on our behalf on the cross (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). You must believe he did this and that his sacrifice cleanses you – if you receive it by faith.

However, there is one sin that is not forgivable:  blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. It is spoken of in Matthew 12:22-32 and it is said to be accusing Jesus of doing his miracles by the power of the evil one. Christians don’t commit that sin, and anyone who has committed it would never want to be forgiven because the Holy Spirit would never work on him and convict him of his sin. Nevertheless, anyone who comes to Christ and desires to have his sins forgiven will have his sins forgiven. God can and will really forgive. The Bible tells us, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness,” (1 John 1:9).

Sometimes we don’t feel that God can forgive us. He can. If you feel that your sins are so bad that God can’t take them away, then you don’t know the great depth of God’s love in the power of forgiveness that is found in the sacrifice of Christ. I admit it is sometimes difficult to “feel” forgiven, because we know certain things we have done are so bad that we deserve to be punished, so we can’t understand how God would be so kind and loving to really forgive us. But it’s true. His infinite love is greater than your finite sin.

Can God really forgive you of all your sins? Absolutely, yes. He did so with mine. He will do so with yours if you come to Christ and ask him.
