Keanu Reeves plays John Wick, an ex-hitman for the Russian mob who leaves the seclusion of his normal life after his wife dies from an illness and some requisite bad guys beat him up, steal his car, and kill his dog. The only problem for the baddies is that John Wick is exceptionally talented at revenge and in the process leaves a wide swath of bodies through the Russian mob-scene as he seeks to get even, and boy does he get even.
I’ve always enjoyed Keanu Reeves ever since Bill and Ted’s excellent adventure. He sealed the deal with the matrix trilogy and so going to see John Wick was a natural choice for me.Β It is not a romance movie. It’s a shoot’em up, bang bang, martial arts, fight scene extravaganza where the body count is excessive. There’s foul language, no nudity, but there is a scene where scantily clad ladies are plying their wares at a nightclub.
So there you have it.Β There’s not much of the movie except revenge, stylized fight scenes, lots of shooting, and some cool effects. If you like that sort of thing, you’ll enjoy this movie. But if not and you’re looking for more plot development and character development, then this movie is not for you.
