Fury is very well done. I was impressed by the cinematography, the acting, the action, and the special effects. In short, it was superbly done. Fury is based on the true story of a Sherman tank crew who stood their ground against seemingly insurmountable odds. the movie drops you into the battlefield of World War II, April 1945, and immerses you in the tension, the fear, the adrenaline, the bodies, and the blood. But it isn’t just about action. You see the hardening, degrading effect that war has on soldiers and what they had to become in order to do their job. There is heroic determination, foul language, courage, fear, success, and failure. It is war. The crew of the U.S. Sherman tank is outgunned by the superior German version, but the American crew has no choice but to move forward. Of course, you end up rooting for them and seemingly endure with them the cramped, claustrophobic confines of their mobile coffin.
There’s a fantastic action, huge body count, excellent acting, great photography, and a heavy dose of sobering reality. War is hell.
Surprisingly, there are references to Scripture and though there is some irreverence, there’s also some serious contemplation Of the crew in which the word of God is quoted without mockery, but with respect. This is a pleasant surprise considering it’s a Hollywood movie.
If you go see the movie please be aware that there’s a lot of cussing. There’s no nudity. There’s a lot of violence.
