Islam by topic: Crucifixion

by | Jun 9, 2016 | Islam, World Religions

Islam teaches Jesus was not crucified (Surah 4:157). Instead, Allah made someone look like Jesus who was then crucified. This means that Allah perpetrated a deception by his own hand when he made someone appear to be Jesus who is not really Jesus (Surah 4:157). Furthermore, Christianity then exists because of Allah’s deception, for it was Allah who caused the early followers of Jesus to believe in the crucifixion. Yet, the Quran says in Surah 5:51 to not take Jews and Christians as friends of Muslims. If Allah does not want Muslims to take Jews and Christians and friends, why did Allah do what was necessary to promote Christianity and have it spread around the world? It does not make any sense.

  1. Jesus was not crucified
    1. Surah 4:157, “That they said (in boast), ‘We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Apostle of Allah’ – but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not.”
  2. Someone made to look like Jesus
  3. Crucifixion is for
    1. Those against Islam
      1. Surah 5:33, “The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter.”
    2. For Muslims who have committed adultery, murder, and who left Islam and war against it.
      1. “The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: “It is not permissible to shed the blood of a Muslim except in three cases: An adulterer who had been married, who should be stoned to death; a man who killed another man intentionally, who should be killed; and a man who left Islam and waged war against Allah, the Might and Sublime, and His Messenger, who should be killed, or crucified, or banished from the land.” (Reference : Sunan an-Nasa’i 4048 In-book reference : Book 37, Hadith 83 English translation : Vol. 5, Book 37, Hadith 4053)
  4. Pharoah practiced crucifixion in ancient Egypt
    1. Surah 20:71, “(Pharaoh) said: “Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? Surely this must be your leader, who has taught you magic! Be sure I will cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides, and I will have you crucified on trunks of palm-trees: so shall ye know for certain, which of us can give the more severe and the more lasting punishment!”
